bronco - tow electrical connector and keyless entry battery

The trailer electrical connector on the Bronco has been flopping around recently as the mounting bracket litterally rusted apart. I finally got around to ordering a new aftermarket mounting bracket only to realize that the connector was too close to the bumper when using that bracket such that the flap on the connector could not be fully opened.

That was a bummer but then again that bracket was only $2. I went to ford to order the OEM bracket. The don't sell the bracket individually. It is only sold with the plastic 7 pin electrical connector also, of course. It was $120 so I passed on that.

I was resigned to fabricating a bracket when I saw a generic 7 pin connector with bracket at my local auto parts store. It looked like it had a little more clearance on the top. It was only $12 so I thought I would give it a try.

Doh! still too close to the bumper. This connector however could be rotated so it was mounted upside down. Once that was done, there was all the room in the world to open that protective plastic cover.
